A Step-by-Step Guide

Adding a partner to your Facebook Business Portfolio is a crucial step for efficient collaboration, especially if you’re working with agencies, consultants, or shady fiverrs who help manage your digital presence. Unfortunately for almost every business on planet earth, Meta has decided to make this task convoluted and insane, despite the fact that the CEO apparently went to Harvard. We are here to to make it slightly less stressful with this step-by-step guide.

Step 1: Open Your Business Profile on Facebook

First, open facebook.com and log in with your personal account that’s associated with your Facebook business page. This is essential, for some reason, as the personal account still acts as a gateway to access business tools.

Step 2: Switch to Your Business Profile

Once logged in, navigate to the top right corner of the screen. Click on your Profile Picture with the dropdown arrow next to it.
From the dropdown menu, select your Business Profile.

Step 3: Access Meta Business Suite

After selecting your business profile, look to the left-hand side of your Facebook homepage.
There you’ll find the Meta Business Suite option — click on it. This action will redirect you to a new page filled with business management tools and settings.

Step 4: Open Your Business Portfolio

On the new page, again check the left-hand menu.
At the top, you’ll see a dropdown with your profile photo and possibly a name or business title.
Click on this dropdown and select your Business Portfolio from the available options.

Step 5: Navigate to Partners Section

Once inside the Business Portfolio, head back to the left-hand side menu.
Scroll until you find the Users section.
Under Users, click Partners.

Step 6: Add a New Partner

On the top right side of your screen, you’ll spot a blue button labeled Add, with a dropdown arrow.
Click the dropdown arrow and choose “Give a partner access to your assets.”

Step 7: Enter the Partner’s Business ID

You’ll now be prompted to enter the Business ID of the partner you want to add. If you’re working with Mother Robot, we will provide this to you in your Onboarding Checklist.

Step 8: Assign Permissions with Full Control

Once the Business ID is added, scroll to the bottom of the form.
Toggle on the Full Control switch to ensure the partner has complete access to manage the necessary assets.

This includes:

  • Admin rights (if needed)
  • Page management
  • Ad account management
  • Pixel and catalog access

Step 9: Confirm and Save

After all the fields are correctly filled and permissions are granted, click Next or Save to finalize the setup.

You’ve successfully added a partner to your Facebook Business Portfolio. Great success!

A Few Best Practices for Managing Facebook Business Partners

  • Review Access Levels Annually: Ensure current partners have the access they need. You don’t want riff-raff, nepo babies from by-gone eras, or ex-employees with legacy access lurking around.
  • Use Meta’s Admin Tools: For revoking or adjusting permissions.
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication: To secure both personal and business profiles. Hackers love to mess with Facebook.
  • Train Your Team: Everyone managing assets should understand Facebook’s interface and roles.
